summer wishes

 summer wishes...

about a month ago trying to fall asleep
i started thinking about summer wishes for the girls and I
{not excluding Bobby...but you all know he travels a lot by now}
so it's just mainly us

I started thinking...and dreaming

what i wanted out of summer
what would be good for the girls
what would be good for our family

and i came up with a few summer wishes...

summer wish #1

traveling more...
we all love to travel and since we are all going in all different directions
with different schedules
it has been on my heart to travel together

i was hoping for a trip for Bobby and I...just us
as well as a trip with all four of us

we hardly have much family time together with him home only a day and a half a week
and we all need some fun time together
time to relax and just go with the flow
our schedules are so jam packed each week
that we all need to take time away
where we don't have to plan
and can just wake up and figure it out each day for a week

ironically this summer wish is coming true
next post i'll tell you about the road trip Bobby and I took together
{it was absolutely the most relaxing trip we've had}

next month
with Bobby's rewards of traveling
the girls and i are going to tag along with him for a little over a week
to Cali
{we've never been to Cali so we are super excited about that}
and this project he is working on is so close to the beach
and you know our fondness for the beach
so we are super excited

and with what i do
i earned a trip to Atlantis in August
I still am in disbelief about how this all fell right into place
traveling more with my family has been on my heart for so long
and i'm so excited to have made it happen this summer

summer wish #2

to continue to enjoy the small moments with the girls

right now...they are putting on a fashion show for me
in my high heels

Madison just lined up my shoes for me because
she said and I quote
"your closet was a mess mama"

geez I have a hard time staying organized lately
I used to be organized
but now I call myself an organized disorganized person right now

and it is 9:30 in the evening and yes the girls are still up
i'm a morning girl so if they sleep in a bit later in the morning
happy dance for me
because that means an extra glass of coffee and more stuff I can get done before they wake up

small moment for the day
some of our blueberries are ripe
and the girls looooved being able to pick them
right from our yard

summer wish #3

to take deep breathes
many of them when i need them

summer wish #4

when I'm not working
to have a lot of fun with my family and friends
endless days at the pool

summer wish #5

to finally organize and clean out our closets
they are driving me crazy

summer wish #6

to find days where i use and cook with every single one of my herbs in one day
i swear it's the little things with me

i was doing a happy dance one evening when i realized
all in one day

i used my chives, parsley, cilantro, oregano, basil, and thyme
all fresh right off my front porch
{not all in one meal mind you}
but it was fun
and the roasted cauliflower with thyme on it was fabulous by the way

summer wish #7

to enjoy lunches a couple times during the month with friends
it is an absolute necessity especially when I'm so blessed with the friends that I have

they are a treasure to me

lunches with my mom
we don't get to do much fun things together since my parents are always helping watch the girls when i have work
so it would be nice to enjoy lunch and dinner with them more often

summer wish #8

going to see the kids movies with the girls that come out this summer
we all love going to the movies and just don't do it enough

summer wish #9

being able to give all that I can with work and those i'm training right now
there is nothing that makes you feel better than to help others meet their goals
and become successful themselves

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm certainly ready for a great summer
and to make a conscious effort to making all my summer wishes become reality
xoxo

and thank you again for all your input with the photos from last post...
I am definitely going to be using your suggestions and top picks for my next order for business cards

calling tinkerbell...

calling Tinkerbell...

calling Tinkerbell...

do you hear me?

I needed you last Friday to come spread your pixie fairy dust
for me...

funny how life doesn't quite work that way
last Friday was quite the day
as my wallet was stolen and used
so we've been picking up a few pieces

please no need to comment on that
life could definitely be worse
and not really what I want to write about
I shed some tears that were ridiculous and moved on

my mom thought I was pregnant when I talked to her
because I was so emotional
for some reason about the events of the day

but Friday was just frankly one of those days
that I wanted some Tinkerbell pixie dust to magically start my day all over again
because it was just one thing after another
"awful kind of day"

you get my drift...

in other words
pretty much it was just...
"life"

it has pushed a few things back a bit
but not too much damage was done
thank goodness

it is the picking up the pieces
and special pictures to me that are gone

and the fact that the one plus I was looking forward to
about my wallet being stolen was
a new driver's license picture

that's so ridiculous isn't it?

didn't happen

they used the same darn one...

geez...

but talking about the pictures

all were replaceable but one...
it was a picture of Bobby on our honeymoon
at one of our dinners
and it wasn't taken by us
but by the ship
so I don't have another copy

it was just one of those pictures
that everytime I saw it
I smiled and remembered our special memories we had during our honeymoon week

our hilarious ones
our romantic ones
our relaxing ones

and the picture to me marked the official place where Bobby finally fell in love with the ocean
which is exactly why that was one of my favorite pictures of him

he wasn't all too fond of water when I first met him
but now he loves it just as much as I do
except he has no fear in the ocean as I now do....
I love it but I won't go out past my waist especially if I cannot see the ocean floor

I know a big wuss I have become...

but beside the point is how much I love photographs
I always have them all around me
from the simpliest of sitting at a dinner on our honeymoon

to pictures of our summer nights when we are eating alfresco

summer nights are beyond my favorite

watching the girls play in our backyard
and talking with Bobby as he is grilling...

this was my favorite evening
in these pictures

so...

 calling Tinkerbell...

calling Tinkerbell....

I know you are around as Madison was just talking with you...

and exactly what this little girl was doing
this summer evening...

calling you
on top of this hill
that leads to some common ground behind us

well actually to get it right...

she was calling Tinkerbell and her main squeeze
she informed us about...
{still the same one as last year}

so as she dressed herself in her flower hat
underneath her Fancy Nancy crown
holding her Fancy Nancy purse
and wearing her soccer medal

you know...
the perfect outfit for calling Tinkerbell...

this summer night
was one of my favorites

of all-time...

since fall and winter are closer than ever...

it reminded me to enjoy the last of the summer nights
until next year, that is

the sun was setting perfectly behind the hill
so it shadowed Madison and Hayley as they played until dark

they looked beautiful as we could only see their figures from where we sat

they looked like their own little fairies that night
especially Madison with her feather poofs on her crown

it was all we could see

it made us laugh and smile as we just watched them together
both of them calling Tinkerbell
and then Iridessa
and I said

"hey...what about Silvermist?"
{she's one of my fav's as she likes the color blue and water}

they said...
"you call her mama!"

yes...I'll admit...I did the fairy personality test with the girls...
"and whadya know..."
I can't make a darn decision on some of the answers
because I couldn't decide between a couple descriptions

typical me...

well I do see the sheet often enough
and why I know a little bit about the fairies
as it was requested to be laminated by the girls
so it would stay nice...

it's important reading material you know...
some must-knows for moms of girls

summer nights like these

are a special song to my heart

{thanks for staying with me on this 500 topic post}
well that's a bit of an exaggeration
but you get my drift...
xo

and that wonderful saying on the chalkboard
all the credit goes to Bobby

charmed...

it really doesn't take much to charm me
or make me smile
or to have a good time

what is important to me is to be around those that accept me
for me
and expect nothing else

there are a couple people in my life who have known me for so long
and they have seen my life
and seen how I have changed over the years
because they have been friends for that long
but they still love me for me

over the weekend
I was charmed by a friendship
charmed with a city
she lives in the Dallas area but getting married in downtown Fort Worth
so the buildings are older and just beautiful
not just glass high rises in your typical down town area

there were some brick roads
and restaurants and shoppes all in walking distance from most of the hotels there

a perfect place to get married
we saw her venue
saw her beautiful beautiful dress
spent some fun time talking about anything and everything
did boot camp together and running
I slept on a literally a cloud for my bed
so comfortable
and her hospitality was just wonderful from her and her roommate
thank you Julie!

 as I got home...
I was charmed by Madison and Hayley as I got home with a sign they made me...
it melted my heart...

it was a terrific weekend last weekend with a friend
to a wonderful hair cut last night

it has been a long while since my last hair cut
actually too long that I'm embarrassed to say when my last one was
and with a last minute phone call she had an opening

thank the Lord as the heavens parted...

well that's a bit dramatic to say
don't you think but sounded nice to type...

lets just say I was filled with excitement about it
and thankful she had an opening with my name written on it

as I got home from my hair appointment I told Bobby
I think I have

"I love the beach"
or
"anything to do with the beach is in my blood or hair for that matter"
written across my forehead

As Jamie told me last night
"Martha ~ have you ever thought about wearing your hair sometimes like beach hair
because it's responding pretty well to it right now...?"

"heck yes!" I said but I don't know really how to do it when it comes down to it
I know someone else has done a post on it but

I'm a visual learner...I have to see it done on me really...
so in 10 minutes she showed me how

and told me to look up how to make my own sea salt spray for the hair because it's cheaper
in case you want to know
it helps with texture
8 oz. bottle of water with 1 tsp. sea salt
you can add tea tree oil or coconut oil if you'd like too

but she did show me something else I feel in love with
that made for a funny story when I got home

so I walked in the door...
warning the hubby...

Me:   hey...my hair cut was a tad bit more this time...
Bobby:    huh?
what are you talking about?...

Me: well lets just say since you were a crab this week...all week long

I told her to punish you with payment
{I was kidding you all in case you don't know my humor}

Bobby:   ha, ha, very funny Martha
seriously Marth
how much...?

Me:  well since my hair was in such bad shape and soooooo long

long hair costs a bit more to cut, you know?

Bobby:  Martha you what else did you do?

Me:  I didn't do anything...

Bobby:   what'd you get?

Me:  umm...
{and this was so non-intentional by the way everyone what I said
but it did go with the punishment theme in a way...}

Me:  I got a whip...

Bobby:  You did not Martha!
{I was meaning hair whip you all...if you are a hair product person you probably know what I mean}

guess hubby's mind was somewhere else
but when I got what he thought I meant...

I lost it laughing
and I said...
that was pretty good, eh? Intentional or not...It did go with the punishment theme, right?
but not at all what I meant...

and once again I find myself procrastinating packing...
I've been called the world's worst packer/procrastinator at packing
I won't argue with that
but I've missed you all and have to get this done so I can catch up on reading your posts!

we're off to the lake with some friends
and I'm bring 2 fav recipes of mine that I haven't tried yet so I'm super excited
with my attempt at creating beach hair :)

next week since I didn't have time this week
I found a chair on my run one morning that someone was going to get rid of
ended up in my trunk thanks to my dad:)

so a little redo and Bobby fixing the seat and it'll be perfect

I'll be doing a little redo of a mirror I found on my way home from the store this week too
I like to go the back way sometimes and there is a storage business
and on the curb they were selling some items....very cheaply
I guess they do that when their customers don't pay their bills and won't pick up their stuff
= perfect opportunity for me!

so a mirror ended up in my trunk too for quite a deal
I'll be adding that to my list too next week
since they both will end up the same color
can't wait!
it'll be one of the items that will help me finish our bedroom for the meantime

don't you love cheap finds like that
amazing what people through away that is fixable!

any typos in this post...I'm not responsible for...I'm too lazy to check
yes I said that...plus I rather get the packing done to read ya'lls post
{ya'll ~  that was for you Julie}
xo

August 5, 2010

one more day...

tomorrow I'm off to visit a good friend Julie
and I feel like I am just as excited as going on a beach vacation
now if you know me...
that means I'm pretty darn excited

traveling to the good ole' state of Texas to visit a friend
spend some time with her
maybe hang out at the pool
definitely talk and do some planning for her upcoming wedding

I feel so thankful she even wants my input and help
just being a part of someone's ultra-special day is so wonderful
I don't know what it is about weddings but I love seeing every single detail

Bobby's got it easy this weekend
my in-laws are coming to help him with the girls
he's so spoiled and mind you that means the girls will be spoiled too
which I am thankful for most definitely
so I won't have to worry a bit

this is the first week the kiddos have asked
"am I going to school today?"
I think that is the hint they are getting sick of me this summer
it's been a long week with them
but nothing seriously to complain about
they are missing school and routine like no other
and I'm starting to go off the wall needing some immediate travel time or girl time
it'll be just a fun weekend:)

I had to break the news to them that their first day isn't until August 30th
which I'll be excited about but I know I'll miss my partners in crime
{truth be told}

we have a fun and busy August ahead with plans that'll take us straight into school and fall
I do have to admit
I am such a summer girl
this heat is super hot but I really don't complain about it much
because I know when it's gone I soooo miss it

I love so very much about fall
actually being able to enjoy sit outside without being soaked in sweat
the smell of fall
opening the windows and taking in the cool breeze

but one of my first thoughts about fall that I love is
It is time to wear boots!
I love them and wearing layers
I'm really not vain
but as I've gotten older
it's one of my favorite things about fall
I've noticed I get really excited about wearing boots
and having fun with them

the little luxuries I enjoy:)
before I start convincing myself of fall-loving
I need to enjoy the rest of summer
something about being tan makes me smile
and yes I enjoy the sun the safe way

Although the way the girls and I tan
I know people think we don't use sunscreen
I pinky swear we do and I am good about reapplying

Right now I'm procrasting...

and I'm listening to Madison and Hayley
creating their own language underneath a blanket right now

which you would most definitely laugh because about an hour ago
I was loosing my mind with them bickering and crying over everything...
and now I hear sweet giggles and a new language
possibly why I get asked
every.single.place.I.go...
if they are twins!
that's the part I will miss about summer
not the couple hours before
which I was praying for school to start today with how the morning started with them...
this is them doing their thing under the blanket
in our bed that I did make about 10 seconds before
well maybe 10 minutes...I have been typing a bit
but that's okay
a messy bed looks lived in and used, right?
and it shows just a bit more of our room that I promise I'll be finishing by month-end:)
not much more from the last picture is it?

I've got to get packing now...
I can start in the morning and still be packing at 1:00 in the morning just for a weekend
it's not that I pack a lot by any means
it's the decisions that you have to make when packing that take me all day
ridiculous I know

so off to "try" to start...

before I forget...
we have a couple more friends in our yard this year
here's the female that lives on the side of our house

{we believe female anyway since she is huge which you can't see here}
and we think it is a male who lives in our hydrangeas in front of our house
he's a bit smaller

thank you Dusty Lu!!! I am so excited to win your give-a-way...it made my day
seriously and all those dressings sound so yummy

and because I love summer soooooo very much I am in love with Sheryl Crow's new song from her soul record
Summer Days
hope you enjoy the video
it's not available to add to the playlist quite yet:)
but a great fun song that'll make you smile
just remember to mute my playlist if you'd like to watch the video

June 1, 2010

holding hands

a little behind with everything is how I feel
thank you all for
making sure I didn't fall into a hole or something

this past week was a fun one
lots of summer enjoyment
with a little girl addicted to these cute boots with everything she wears...
we started our memorial weekend a bit early on Thursday before Daddy got home
messy s'mores for the girls
they always make me laugh when they eat them

and made me think of last summer when they enjoyed them so much
how quickly this all happens

we had lots of BBQ, swimming, and playing outside over the weekend
exactly what we all love

hopefully I'll get back into the groove
but for now
I'll have the pictures show you all the fun
